A group of friends taking part in a gruelling fundraising run have crossed the finish line.

Frances Tait set off from Norwick Beach in Unst early on Saturday morning.

She ran a relay with friends Fiona Shearer, Stephanie Bain, Kerri Redfern, Alison Moar and Gail McCulloch, before the six crossed the finish line together at the Sumburgh Hotel.

The aim has been to raise funds for vital stem cell treatment for Mrs Taits sister, Louise Herbert, who suffers from MS.

Mrs Herbert is raising 40,000 to help pay for the therapy which it is hoped could dramatically improve her quality of life.

It follows similar treatment given to isles woman Jolene Masson in 2017, who said her life had been made a million times better by the therapy.

Mrs Herbert is planning to make the journey to Mexico in January.

A JustGiving crowdfunding page has been set up here.
