Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary cancer of the liver and is the fifth most common malignancy worldwide.1 However, HCC distribution differs between regions. Most cases of HCC occur in Asia, particularly in East Asia, and have a high incidence rate of> 20 cases/100,000 people.
